Fans of Mitsubishi remember the Montero quite well. It left the United States market back in 2006, but has remained a staple of the automaker's lineup in other parts of the world since then. The large SUV was powerful and capable, and now, there's potential that it might be making a return to American shores.
Reports on Automotive News indicate that by 2016, we might see the Montero back in the states, new and refreshed, of course. Though no plans have been confirmed by Mitsubishi itself.
At Skyline Mitsubishi, we'd advise on waiting for official word, but it's fun to speculate and reminisce about the vehicle, many of which can still be spotted around the area.
The Montero sold here in America for two decades, taking on tough all-terrain vehicles like the Land Cruiser and Discovery. Adding it back to our new Mitsubishi lineup would certainly be a boon, and give drivers another option to go along with the Outlander.
Of course, we also recognize that needs and platforms change over time. The Outlander satisfies many in Thornton, CO, so there's the potential that the new Montero could actually be a slightly smaller vehicle than the Outlander, with three rows of seating.
Of course, it's all speculation, as we said. When any announcement comes out, we'll let you know here on our blog. Until then, feel free and stop in to our showroom during regular business hours. Our team is happy to keep the conversation about new Mitsubishi models going, providing you with all the information you desires, answering any questions you might have, and arranging test drives.
