It's the Outlander Sport and its United States sales are up by 40 percent this year and that's absolutely something worth writing home about! But that's not what we're here to talk about today; over at the Tokyo Motor Show, there's a new concept on display and fans of the Outlander Sport should definitely pay attentions.
Named currently as the XR-PHEV Concept, it's a gorgeous CUV with an aggressive style that's impossible to ignore. Coated in bright red paint, with angles across the front fascia of chrome, and some steeply angled and narrow headlights, this vehicle looks like a predator ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey.
But it's more than just a pretty face; with comfortable seating for four inside, the front-wheel drive model on display boasted a 1.1-liter three-cylinder engine under the hood teamed up with a 120-kW electric motor. Cranking out an impressive 134 horsepower in hybrid mode, an estimated 52 mile range in all-electric mode, and with an estimated combined gas mileage of 66 mpg on Japan's testing cycle, there's nary a thing we can find fault with on the XR-PHEV.
Many are expecting it to carry over a ton of features into the next Outlander Sport model; for now, we'll just have to wait and see.
