The latest Mitsubishi SUV, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport might go down in the company's history as the best SUV they've created. Skyline Mitsubishi of Greater Denver, Colorado shoppers certainly think so.
Chicago Tribune reviewers agree, Outlander Sport is "a compact SUV that does everything well."
Coming in with a base price of $21,995, extra options (including glass sunroof, Sirius satellite radio, backup camera and premium sound system) bring your Outlander Sport total to $27,150. These prices include a choice of three engines: Outlander's 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3-liter V-6, or Outlander Sport's 2.0-liter, 148-horsepower four-cylinder.
For a 3000-lb SUV, the mid-size Outlander Sport accelerates very well, thanks in part to its CVT - continuously variable transmission.
This engine and CVT combination result in some great fuel economy results: 25 mpg in the city, 31 mpg highway on regular gas.
Inside, Outlander holds 21.7 cubic feet of cargo in its rear, not including when you fold rear seating forward. Outlander Sport has an optional 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate sound system, with mounted subwoofer. If you go for this feature, be aware it cuts cargo size down to 20.1 cubic feet.
