With a total driving range of 62 miles and zero emissions produced, drivers in the greater Denver, CO area and beyond are starting to notice the Mitsubishi i. Powered by MiEV technology, it's the most affordable electric vehicle available in the United States today... And to our neighbors to the north for that matter.
The City of Vancouver recently announced it would be ordering 13 Mitsubishi i electric vehicles to replace older gasoline-based cars that would be retiring from its fleet by the end of the year, as well as 17 next year. The vehicles will be used primarily by the city's staff to travel to and from meetings and worksites. In order to further support an all-electric fleet, charging stations will be installed at many commonly-visited locations.
Other Reasons The City of Vancouver Chose the 2012 Mitsubishi i include
- Three charging options: 22.5 hours at 120V, 7 hours at 240V, and a 30-minute, 80-percent charge with a CHAdeMO Level 3 public quick-charger- Compact design: Easily maneuverable, yet still comfortably seats four
- Warranty: 8 years/100,000 miles on the battery, 5 years/60,000 miles on the powertrain, and 3 years/36,000 miles bumper to bumper
Of course, more than what the vehicles will be used for, we're excited for the potential outcome of this move. Specifically, while it would help the city save some money on gasoline, it would also set an example that other drivers could follow in turn.
Hint, hint, the Mitsubishi i is currently available across the United States. That means you don't have to go north of the border and work for the City of Vancouver to get behind the wheel. All you have to do is contact Skyline Mitsubishi. We'd be happy to set you up for a test drive in one or any other new Mitsubishi that we carry at 2040 W. 104th Ave. Thornton, CO.
