The Eclipse first launched in the early 90s as a replacemet for the Starion coupe, and instantly appealed to the masses with its variety of trim levels. It didn't take long for the Eclipse to become the epitome of the performance sports coupe in North America.
Achieving great success with its first-, second- and third-generation Eclipse vehicles, Mitsubishi went on to launch its most recent, fourth-generation model in 2006. And while the iconic sports coupe experienced many evolvements from generation to generation, it did, over the years, retain its core sports-car theme in each of its trim levels - from the inexpensive fuel-efficient entry level all the way to the turbocharged all-wheel drive model.
Today, Mitsubishi refers to their refreshed fourth-gen Eclipse as a "sophisticated yet distinctive-looking two-door with available V-6 power"1, which buyers can find in the form of a coupe or convertible. Needless to say, the Mitsubishi Eclipse has enjoyed a long and successful career over the past 20-plus years. Like all good things, however, the Mitsubishi Eclipse is coming to an end...But not without a proper sendoff!
To celebrate the long success of the Eclipse, Mitsubishi is offering a celebratory SE Special Edition for both the 2012 Eclipse Coupe and Eclipse Spyder. Features distinguishing the SE Special Editions are: SE side decaling, black side mirrors, and 18-inch dark-finish alloy wheels. Plus, an extensive list of standard premium features found in the GS Sport edition!
