Mitsubishi already developed and deployed the all new Mitsubishi Outlander to North American audiences. Now, a Mitsu SUV will be built for those living in Bangladesh.
Progoti Industries Ltd, which has partnered with Mitsubishi since the 1970's, will begin producing the Pajero Sport SUV at a plant in Chittagong, according to Nikkei Business Daily. Parts for the SUV will be supplied from Mitsubishi Thailand.1
Sales of Mitsubishi vehicle in Bangladesh shot up 55% in 2010. Despite the size of Bangladesh's auto market, the country's future is considered promising, considering it holds a population of 150 million.
Although it is still a very poor nation, Bangladesh's gross domestic product has grown an average annual rate of around 6% during the last five years.
Mitsubishi and Progoti will also look at production of Mitsubishi-brand sedans in the future for that region, the Daily added.2
