Mitsubishi Motors North America has decided...The state where they'll officially launch their pure-electric i this fall will be Hawaii. And, thanks to a variety of EV incentives, including Hawaii's $4,500 clean energy rebate and federal tax credit of $7,500 (subject to availability), the entry-level i ES will cost only $16,000. That's $11,990 below the manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $27,990!
Estrella Seese, Active Energy Program Administrator, Hawaii State Energy Office, graciously says, "We thank Mitsubishi Motors for choosing Hawaii as one of the first states to receive the new 'i' electric car." Boasting the positive impact EVs have on the environment and society, she continues, "Electric vehicles use a fraction of the fuel needed by traditional cars, so each EV on the road means we're reducing our dependence on imported oil and increasing our ability to reach Hawaii's goal of 70 percent clean energy within a generation."1
California, Oregon, and Washington will also see the Mitsubishi hit showroom floors in November. States within the northeast region of the U.S. will see it in early 2012. And, the remainder of the nation by the end of 2012.
[Dealer Name] would, however, like to note that on Earth Day, Mitsubishi opened their books for i preorders from drivers across the U.S. And, if you're among the first 2,000 drivers to reserve the ground-breaking Mitsubishi i, they'll even waive the $99.99 home electrical inspection.
